My name is Alessandro Scilletta and I was born in New York City. I moved to Seattle 4 years ago from NYC where I taught chemistry, biology and physics for 6 years in the South Bronx, Harlem and Hell's kitchen. Prior to becoming a teacher, I served 10 years in the Air Force (4 active duty and 6 years in the Air National Guard) where I worked at a Boom Operator and a Computer, Cryptography, Network and Switching systems technician.
I absolutely love being a science teacher! Getting to geek out about science (and set off the occasional fire alarm) with our wonderful students is an amazing privilege. I would do this job for free if I could.
In Seattle Public Schools, psychologists support educational excellence in each classroom. With background in both education and psychology, these specialists work closely with teachers to develop the most effective learning package for each individual child.
Depending on the specific needs of each school, a psychologist may:
-help a teacher identify a student's needs, strength, and learning styles
-assist a teacher with effective instruction and behavior management
-participate in the multidisciplinary team evaluation for Special Education services
-promote communication between the home and the school
-and many more
