Education: University of Wyoming, B.A. Secondary Science Education; University of Utah, Master of Legal Studies
How I Got Into Education: My wife convinced me to take an education class in college when I couldn’t decide on a new major. I had to teach a lesson at a middle school for the class. When a student finally understood mitosis after teaching him one-on-one, that light bulb moment for him turned into a passion for me.
Hobbies: I like exploring the outdoors with my wife and two boys. I am also interested in mycology and would like to be more involved in mushroom foraging. I like to bake bread, ferment food, and learn about self-sufficiency. I also love basketball, reading, watching television, and playing Nintendo Switch.
I grew up in Malaysia and came to the US for high school and college. After graduating from Yale, I lived in New York City and Hong Kong and worked in investment management for about 15 years. My family moved to Seattle in 2007, and I took time off work after my son was born. In 2016, I decided to become a math teacher because I have always loved math and wanted to spread that love to students. In my free time, I like to do puzzles, read and travel. I look forward joining Lincoln’s community.
