College Planning Day at UW Bothell!
Join us on Wednesday, March 26th, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:40 PM, for a dynamic half-day event designed to equip your high school students (content is geared towards juniors or undecided seniors) with the knowledge they need to navigate the college admissions process. Please see attached schedule and list of confirmed colleges/universities.
Here’s why you should bring your students:
- Comprehensive Coverage: Around 20 Washington state colleges participating offering diverse perspectives and opportunities.
- Tailored Learning: Students choose four breakout sessions from a range of different colleges on topics like applications, scholarships, financial aid, campus life, and specific majors.
- Expert Insights: College admissions experts, faculty, and current students provide firsthand knowledge and answer their burning questions.
- Stress-Free Exploration: We’ll handle the logistics! Free bus parking for field trips and a dedicated counselors’ lounge for your convenience.
We encourage you to organize a group outing for your students. If you are unable to come as a group, we have a separate registration link for students to attend on their own. Some schools might also be eligible for subsidized bus transportation. Apply for bus subsidy. Contact Heidi Youseph at hyouseph@freemansd.org if you have any questions related to that subsidy. We will have free bus and individual vehicle parking available on campus.
- Registration is now open!
- Group/field trip registration
- Individual student registration
Spread the word! Please share this email with your colleagues and encourage your students to register – the sooner the better! Space is limited, so we encourage you to register early.
Why College Visits Are Important
Why Visit Colleges
- Get a firsthand view, Get answers to your questions, Get valuable information, and Get ready to decide.
Gear up research and information from Gear Up, WA State shows that students who attend at least 1 college visit are 1½ times more likely to enroll in college after high school graduation, & even 3 times more likely if a parent attends the college visit with the student. Visiting a campus can help you get a first-hand look at a school or program to see if it is a good fit. You can see what the atmosphere is like. Find out what support programs are offered and talk to faculty, financial aid and admissions office, and other students. If visiting in person is not an option, you can take Gear Up Washington State virtual tours to learn about different post-high school pathways.
