Bright Futures is hosting a fun community event to raise money to ensure stable funding in the year ahead. Mark your calendar for May 16th, 6-9:30pm at Old Stove Gardens (Ballard) . Buy tickets and donate at https://www.friendsofingraham.org/brightfutures. Please invite your friends and family and help us raise our $50k annual budget.

What is Bright Futures?

Bright Futures is the part of FOI that is organized around supporting our students who are housing and food insecure. Our counselors, staff and social worker help us connect FOI resources to students. Weekend food support, basic clothing and toiletry needs, a few fun extras like an Ingraham hoodie or tickets to a dance….. it’s an incredible network of support! It’s the Ramily in action.

We need drivers in the weeks ahead for the Food Backpack Program.

One volunteer needed each Thursday at 1:15 p.m. to pick up food donations from the University District Food Bank and deliver them to Ingraham High School.

AP Exams begin in May!

If you, and/or your student, registered and paid for an AP exam this past November, test day is almost here! Families, please encourage your student to check their school email after Spring Break for messages with specifics about exam locations and technology preparations.  Failing to prepare laptops prior to testing can cause your student to miss their test date, as exams must start on time.  Standard exam length runs approximately 3.5 to 4 hours (timed testing, break, and instructions), so please help your student to remember to fully charge their laptop, bring their charger, and bring snacks to the testing session.  Jennifer Luthe jlluthe@seattleschools.org

AP Computer Science A – May 7th @ 11:45 am

AP Statistics – May 8th @ 7:30 am

AP Calculus AB/BC – May 12th @ 7:30 am

Families of 10 grade students:  SBA ELA begins on Monday, April 21st!

The 10th grade Smarter Balanced Assessments are a state required assessment that serves as one possible pathway to meeting your student’ Language Arts graduation requirements.  10th grade students will be taking the English Language Arts SBA in their 10th grade Language Arts classes the week of April 21st -25th (the week after Spring Break).  Make-up exams for the ELA Smarter Balanced assessment will take place the following week.

Testing requires the use of a district provided laptop, so students should charge and bring their laptop to class that week.  Use this link to access practice and training exams (just click the green sign in button, no other information needed, and follow the prompts): SBA ELA Practice Test

The Math SBA exam will take place the last week of May.  If you have any questions, please reach out to Jennifer Luthe (Testing Coordinator) at jlluthe@seattleschools.org.

Families of 11th grade students:  Math SBA testing May 27th-30th!

Notes were delivered last week to juniors who have not yet fulfilled the math pathway needed for graduation.  Your student likely has a plan in place to meet this requirement, but since waivers are a thing of the past, we want to ensure that your student has as many opportunities as possible to fulfill the pathway.  This note is offering/encouraging them to take the Math SBA this Spring (during their math class) to potentially meet this graduation pathway.  Please chat with your student about this option and be on the lookout for updates and test preparation materials in future bulletin announcements. Jennifer Luthe jlluthe@seattleschools.org.

Parent Groups, Athletics, Performing Arts, and Other News

Friends of Ingraham News

Friends of Ingraham will be meeting on Thursday April 24th in the library at 7pm.

We will be approving the final grants of the year.     The grants are one of the biggest impacts FOI has on Ingraham.  Our grant budget is $60,000!! Annually.    Mr. Floe is usually there to give a school update and take questions.   It’s also a great way to see FOI in action and consider joining the board for school year 2025/26.   All are welcome to attend!

Friends of Ingraham needs YOU!!!  2025/2026 FOI Board members needed!

We are looking for someone who is willing to be President for one year.   This role is great for a parent who’s been at Ingraham a few years and who is willing to help guide and troubleshoot fundraising and communications.   We have great energy and representation from our Freshman class parents and we want to include Sophomore and Junior parents too!    It’s a big ask but we can start information sharing now and there is plenty of time to train before needing to take the lead.

President is just too much?   We also need support  with Fundraising,  Assistant Treasurer,  class of 2027 and class of 2028 representatives and someone to help with social media/instagram.   Many of the other roles have been tentatively filled and we’re starting to get things rolling for next year.  Details on board positions at www.friendsofingraham.org/boardpositions.

Please reach out to us at friendsofingrahamhs@gmail.com and Kathleen or Mary can schedule a call or meet up to see what would be a good fit for you!  Ideally we have all the positions filled by mid-May.  If they aren’t filled,  it will start to have a negative impact on budget and program planning for next year.  Please consider if you can volunteer for a leadership position.

Are you a parent of a junior or a sophomore?  Do you want to make sure senior events happen for your student?  Are you curious what senior events are?  Each year it takes a group of 5 -10 parents who can take the lead to make these events happen!  And they will need support from many more.

Learn more on Tuesday April  22nd at 7:30pm in the Ingraham Library.

Experienced parents will be on hand to explain senior breakfast, spree and more.  We want to help you understand what it takes to make senior events happen.

The time is now for the class of 2026 to come together.  Is your student part of the class of 2027 or 2028, you are welcome to attend too.  A long lead time to plan and fundraise makes everything easier.

Reach out to friendsofingrahamhs@gmail.com with questions.

Senior Breakfast is the morning of graduation on June 17. This special event gives the class of 2025 a chance to gather the morning of graduation before heading directly to graduation rehearsal.  The event includes a catered breakfast and a meaningful program honoring the class. Fundraising makes this event Free.

Yard Signs for Graduates! Fundraising allows every student to get a yard or window sign for FREE!

Senior Spree is the post-graduation all-night drug and alcohol-free party the evening of June 17.  Students board buses following graduation and are driven to two secret locations with food and fun activities, along with chaperones.

This fundraiser will help keep senior breakfast free for all and provide scholarship funds for SPREE. Ideally, we need to raise over $25,000 to keep these events financially inclusive for every graduating student!

A $125 donation (+ purchase of spree ticket) will cover actual cost of your student attending SPREE, breakfast and getting a yard sign.

Any amount is appreciated. The proceeds will help pay for the signs and breakfast and enable us to offer as many SPREE scholarships as possible.

School Communication

Ingraham uses various methods to communicate information out to students and families:

  • Students, please start checking your SPS email inbox daily for information from school.
  • Schoology pages
  • School Bulletins:  We email the school bulletin weekly via a system called School Messenger.  Occasionally, we hear from parents/guardians who say they are not receiving the bulletin or have suddenly stopped receiving them.  It is usually an email filter issue, or you have inadvertently unsubscribed.  Manage your communication preferences on School Messenger.
