    RUNNING START STUDENTS REMINDER. You can access previous advisory lessons on your school counselor’s Schoology page. Please take a look at these lessons. We are currently reviewing graduation requirements and planning for course registration for next year. 

    The Ingraham Teen Health Center is open and available to support Ingraham students for medical and/or mental health needs.  Currently services are primarily via telehealth (phone or video), with some medical services available in-person by appointment only.

    Seattle Public Library and (a Service of The Princeton Review) are partnering as of NOW. has over 3,000 highly vetted expert tutors, who can help students with schoolwork, tutoring and academic coaching in a variety of subjects in a safe and secure online classroom. 1-1 help is available in math, writing, science, history, foreign languages, college essay writing, Advanced Placement (AP) courses and more. In fact, Ms. Brennan, Ingraham’s librarian, said you can even “upload an entire research paper so that the tutor can look it over and make suggestions for improvement”. 

    • Service is available 7 days a week, 2-10 p.m. in Spanish/English and 4-7 p.m. in Vietnamese
    • Students can use their microphone to communicate with tutors, we hope this will be easier for English language learners
    • Teens and adults can use this service to get help with filling out job applications and writing a cover letter and resume

    Statewide Financial Aid Filing Support Events: The 12th Year Campaign is partnering with high schools and colleges to provide virtual events to help students take the first steps to fund post-secondary goals.

    About the workshops: 
    We will give an overview of the Seattle Promise scholarship, which provides up to two years or 90 credits of tuition at the Seattle Colleges. All Seattle Public School graduates from the class of 2021 are eligible for Seattle Promise, regardless of GPA, income or country of birth. We will help students to complete the first steps in the scholarship process. We will also describe the required program milestones, and answer any questions that you have. These are evening workshops with interpretation, and are open to the whole SPS community.

    Women’s University Club of Seattle Foundation Scholarships. Deadline: Tues, February 16, 2021. Award: 5 - $10,000 scholarships ($2500 per year for four years) awarded in April 2021.  The scholarship is for tuition and fees.

    Selection is based on a young woman’s character, scholarship, and achievements related to her school and community that are above and beyond requirements to graduate. We equally seek students focused on the humanities and social sciences as well as students with science, technology, engineering and math goals (STEM). Successful candidates reflect the Foundation’s values of innovative leadership, civic involvement, and personal growth.

    Scholarship winners will be notified no later than Wednesday, March 17, 2021 and awards will be presented at the Brava! Awards Dinner on Wednesday, April 21, 2021.  Each scholarship winner and up to three guests will be invited to attend.  Attendance at the Brava! Awards Dinner is required to receive our scholarship.

    Applications must be received no later than Tuesday, February 16, 2021. Please be sure to include the full name of your school. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.     PB & J Foundation Scholarship. Deadline: May 31, 2021. Award: $500-$1000. This scholarship is for students who have experienced personal challenges that may not have allowed them to perform well academically, but who still have the drive to succeed.     Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship award. Deadline: November 15, 2020. Award: $1000. The Ballard Elks Lodge awards three local girls and three local boys $1,000.00 each to be used towards college tuition. This scholarship is available to high school seniors. Open to high school seniors attending an accredited 2-year or 4-year college in the US. For more information and to apply online, go here

    JUNIORS! Check out this opportunity. Alexander Hamilton Scholars Empowerment Program Award. Deadline: January 27, 2021. Award: $500 Scholarship plus much, much more. The Hamilton Award recognizes high school juniors for their academic, personal, and service achievements. Every year, they select up to 35 students nationally to enter their 5-year, no cost empowerment program. Winners receive a $500 scholarship, annual leadership conferences, college application guidance, scholarship & financial aid assistance, individual & group support, peer mentorship across cohorts, professional network and internship opportunities.     Are you interested in giving back to your community through a non-profit organization? Teens in Public Service (TIPS) is offering a paid summer internship program. TIPS hires teens ages 15-19 who are passionate about giving back to their community and they pair them to intern with nonprofit causes. Learn about internships here.     ASSE Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange program is offering a scholarship opportunity to spend an academic year in Germany. Application deadline: December 1, 2020. Eligibility requirements include: US citizen, 3.0 GPA or higher, 15-18 year old high school student, prior knowledge of German is NOT required for application.     University of Washington Robinson Center for Young Scholars is a program at the University of Washington Seattle campus that is dedicated to providing advanced and accelerated educational opportunities for students of many different ages. It offers both summer enrichment programs as well as early entrance programs to the UW Seattle. The Academy Program is for students who apply in their 10th grade year and enter in what would be their 11th grade year of high school. application deadline is March 8, 2021.     The University of Washington offers evening online school-year enrichment courses for high school students.   Winter session classes include:

    Interested in going into premed? Sign up for the Pre-Med Academy Level I, a virtual intensive medicine course offered by the Harvard Student Agencies! The program is led by current Harvard students on the pre-med track, and it will also feature guest speakers such as Harvard professors or professionals in the medical field! 

    Course overview:

    • Investigates modules on genetics, complex immunology, and viral diseases
    • Explores case studies on various diseases, poses medical ethical questions, and offers an opportunity to dissect scientific papers
    • Prepares students for a career in medicine by providing an overview of the MCAT process. 

    Date/time: November 28-29 and December 5-6, from 10am-2pm PST each day 

    Program cost: $200/person
