    Ingraham Virtual Curriculum “Open House”

Ingraham’s Open House is asynchronous this year.  In other words, you can view the attached link of videos on your own time and when it is convenient for you.  Please reach out to your student’s teacher(s) if you have further questions.  The link is also on the Ingraham website: IHS Virtual Curriculum Night

    Quarter Grades

Grade reports will be available on the Source on November 23rd.

Applications for Kingmakers of Seattle Extended

To extend an opportunity to Black male students across the district, the Office of African American Male Achievement has launched Kingmakers of Seattle Extended (KOSE).

Kingmakers, an elective program for Black male 7th through 12th grade students, currently operates in four SPS schools in partnership with the City of Seattle. The virtual extension is a five-week, 10 session program that will connect more Black male students across the district to share experiences, participate in affirming curriculum that addresses stereotypes and focuses on their cultural identity, and elevate their voice.

There are two cohorts in the first semester: November 10 - December 10 and January 5 - February 4. Sessions will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 - 5 p.m. Black male students in 7th through 12th grade are encouraged to apply to the program by Friday, Nov. 6.

Students at schools with no African-centered learning facilitated by staff who reflect them, affinity spaces, or cultural identity spaces will get first priority. Learn more here. Please email William King, wrking@seattleschools.org, if you have any questions.

Notice for Parents/Guardians of Students Taking AP Courses

We appreciate your flexibility as we work to navigate logistics surrounding the AP Program at Seattle Public Schools. We are writing to inform you of important and time sensitive updates for your student who is currently enrolled in one or more AP courses. Please review the following information:

    Exam Registration:

All students who wish to take AP exams must register by the end of the school day on November 12, 2020. Please contact your AP Coordinator, Susan Knutsen at smknutsen@seattleschools.org if your student has questions about how to register.

    Testing Options:

At this time, the expectation of the College Board is to have students test in-person, and there is not an option for online exams. The College Board may decide later to offer an online testing option, but we have no information about that at this time. As you know, Seattle Public Schools are operating 100% remote right now, and we do not know if Seattle Public Schools will be open for in-person learning when tests are administered in May. If we are not open, and the College Board does not offer an online option, students will likely not be able to take the AP exams.

    Payment & Refunds:

In previous years, we have collected AP exam fees during the registration period.  However, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, we have decided not to begin collecting exam fees until February. Our collection window will run from February 1 through March 5, 2021.  We hope that there will be more information available by February, so that you and your student will be able to make an informed decision on whether to pay for AP exams or not.  If you do pay for the exam but decide later to cancel the exam, you will receive a full refund.  Please note that refunds take time to process and will likely not be available until summer of 2021. The fee is $102 per exam; however, students who receive Free or Reduced Lunch do not have to pay this fee.

We realize that the uncertainty around whether or not students will be able to take AP exams is difficult. We will provide more information as it becomes available.

    School-Day PSAT and SAT

Seattle Public Schools has cancelled the January administration of the school day PSAT & PSAT/NMSQT.

The College Board will not be providing additional school-day administration dates for the 2020-21 school year.

The PSAT/NMSQT is the route of entry into the National Merit Scholarship Program. Since students were unable to take the 2020 PSAT/NMSQT (offered in October 2020 and January 2021) due to  school closures, students may use SAT scores as alternative method for entry requirements.

Information can be found in the attached document - Alternate Entry to the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Please make sure to note all requirements and deadlines outlined in the document.

Questions specific to National Merit Scholarship Program should be directed to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation or the College Board.

Tutor.com has over 3,000 highly vetted expert tutors, who can help students with schoolwork, tutoring and academic coaching in a variety of subjects in a safe and secure online classroom. 1-1 help is available in math, writing, science, history, foreign languages, college essay writing, Advanced Placement (AP) courses and more. In fact, Ms. Brennan, Ingraham’s librarian, said you can even “upload an entire research paper so that the tutor can look it over and make suggestions for improvement”.

    • Service is available 7 days a week, 2-10 p.m. in Spanish/English and 4-7 p.m. in Vietnamese
    • Students can use their microphone to communicate with tutors, we hope this will be easier for English language learners
