    Attendance Office News

    Update from the Attendance Office – URGENT!

    Effective immediately… all parent/guardian emails excusing absences must contain contact information of the sender in the email, in order for the request to be processed.  The Attendance Office will no longer update student records from email with no contact information included.  (EX:  sender/parent/guardian name, phone number (matches student record)).  Please contact if you have any questions.

    There seems to be some confusion with some attendance issues.  Here’s a recap and please send updates to

    • Notify attendance via email if you have connectivity issues that lead to absences – they can be excused.
    • If your student was marked absent but was “logged in” – please be aware, login does not necessarily mean “present” – student must participate – see each class instruction from teacher. Contact teacher first, they clear discrepancy.
    • Parents have two (2) days to update attendance.
    • Family travel is unexcused.
    • Missed morning class? Participate in afternoon work session and not be marked absent.
    • Students can be dropped for 20 consecutive days of non-participation, unless documentation is on file.
    • Need assistance  – contact student counselor or Assistant Principal working with your student.
    • Class of 2021 seniors – if you haven’t met with your counselor yet – DO IT NOW!
    • Class of 2021 seniors – you must have 24 credits to graduate.

    Preplanned Absences (in lieu of form) During Remote Learning:

    Instructions – Emails must be provided at least three (3) days in advance of absence.

    • Review the Preplanned Absence form - absence must meet one of categories listed (college visits, sports, volunteering, etc.)
    • Submit one email to all your teachers, cc: attendance – Subject:  Preplanned Absence (state category from form)
    • Dates of absences
    • Explanation to teacher – per form what kind of absence are you taking, what volunteer organization, what sports event, etc.
    • State if you will have internet connectivity – do you plan to log in over the absence
    • Request teachers if work can be done in advance or suggestions for making up work (excused absences do not exempt students from turning in work; the work is allowed late per teacher discretion)
    • Each teacher will need to respond acknowledgement and cc attendance

    The Attendance Office will communicate with the Principal for final sign off, per usual process.

    World Language Credit Testing

    There are only two more district-wide sessions for World Language credit testing this school year. Please encourage students to sign up here.

    Ingraham Boys Basketball Fundraiser

    Ingraham Basketball Family, Friends and Fans. Please support our 2021 Fundraiser!

    We are asking for your support to help us offer a high-quality basketball experience for our student-athletes. Your generous donations will help pay for a new shooting machine, upgraded equipment, warm-up gear, travel expenses, summer camp and tournament fees, team meals, and much more.

    Latinx Club Announcements

    Latino Legislative Day is March 16th from 10am - 2pm virtually: topics being discussed are healthcare, mental health, immigration, farmworker rights, labor, hate crimes, education k-12, and United States and Mexican States Building Partnerships. It will be an opportunity for our Latinx students to talk to their legislators and have their voices heard.     Latinx Leadership Day is March 17th from 12:30pm to 3:00pm virtually: this day will be a workshop day for students to talk about mental health and activist burnout, anti-blackness in Latinx communities, getting future oriented, and environmental justice.     Students: Get High School Credit for Working at Your Job

    Counseling Office Bulletin

    Course enrollment for the 20-21 school year has CLOSED.  If a student still needs to complete registration, please have them contact their counselor or Cindy Spencer in the Registrar’s office, with their course selections as soon as possible.  We will re-open it again in the end of May for students that want to make changes.

    NEW! STEM-Focused College Webinar Wednesday, April 7, 2021 @ 4:30pm - 6:00 pm  Many students pursue STEM majors in college for the wrong reasons and are often unaware of the specific skills and experiences to cultivate in order to be competitive for college admission, internships, and jobs in these areas. Join Dr. Mark Hofer for an introductory talk on the STEM college application and admissions process.     NEW!  The Friends of Seattle World School Scholarship application is currently open. Any student who previously attended SWS is eligible to apply and usually any student who applies is awarded some scholarship money. Students also have the option of receiving support from a mentor. The mentors help with the transition to college and are available for as long as needed. Contact Nancy Peterfreund,, the director of the scholarship program with questions. To apply Click HERE  (3/12) 

    NEW!  The Shelby Tiffany Arts Foundation Scholarship program, named for Shelby Michael Tiffany, a graduate of Ingraham High School and California Institute of the Arts and an accomplished designer and team leader at Nike North Ameri­can Basketball, offers twelfth grade students enrolled at Ingraham High School in Seattle the opportunity to apply for a scholarship in design/visual arts. 
    Student applicants must currently be enrolled at Ingraham High School in Seattle, Washington, plan to attend an accredited college or university in pursuit of a degree in art or design, should have a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or higher and complete the requirements of the applications.  The scholarships may be used for tuition, campus room or board, and in­structional resource expenses.  Applications are due June 30, 2021.     PB&J Scholarship is available to students who have experienced personal challenges that may not have allowed them to perform well academically (high GPA is not needed to qualify).  Deadline to apply is May 31, 2021.  

    The Ron & Vanessa Banner Scholars Program is currently accepting applications through March 15. Winners of the scholarship will receive $10,000 annually for four years that will go towards college tuition and expenses and will be paired with a mentor in the field of their choosing who will guide and coach them throughout their college experience.  Applicants must be high school seniors, have a current 3.0 or above grade point average and must be involved in community service.

    NEW!  The Seattle Skill Center is offering an information session! Here you will be learning about Seattle Skill Center, benefits, and courses the Skill Center offers for our Seattle Public High School students. Please register HERE and you'll receive the link to the meeting. (3/12) 

    NEW! Learn about the military from Veterans and take a Military IQ Quiz. This is a good opportunity to learn about the military without having to speak with a recruiter. Register for the Zoom meeting on April 20, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. (3/12) 

    NEW! Volunteer with Student Connection! If you are a high schooler looking to make a change in your community, sign up to become a tutor for an underserved student. The program aims to give every student an equal chance in school and battle educational inequity. There’s a quick application process and then you will be matched with a K-12 student in need of a tutor. Tutoring occurs in 1-hour sessions, once or twice a week on Zoom after school. It’s an opportunity to lower inequality, be there for a student in the community, and gain volunteer hours. We are accepting applications until March 28th!  (3/12) 

    Cultural and Creative Workforce Development Program at Northwest Folklife is a program in partnership with the City of Seattle’s Office of Economic Development and the Office of Arts and Culture. This program provides paid remote internships for Seattle’s young creatives, ages 16-26. The internships range between 12-24 weeks long and give youth and young adults hands-on training in various creative fields. Interns work 15 hours weekly in these internships and are paid Seattle’s minimum wage.  (3/8) 

    Seattle Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is offering two internship groups this summer:  Opportunity Promise Internship for Seattle Promise students, working with Seattle’s top employers like Amazon and Kaiser Permanente, and Summer Internship working the City of Seattle and non-profit organizations. The program will include virtual, in-person and Hybrid activities. Apply through April 2nd. (3/8) 

    The University of Washington is excited to announce its spring evening enrichment courses for high school students.   Online classes starting in late March include: 

    > Build an App: Android Development Fundamentals 

    > Digital Photography 

    > Screenwriting Workshop 

    > Natural Science Illustration Studio 

    > Sharpen Your Writing Skills 

    The registration deadline is March 15 and courses begin the week of March 22, 2021.
