Fundraising at Ingraham

Seattle Public Schools is unable to fund all the expenses of a well-rounded high school education. To cover those costs, families and individuals that are able to do so contribute in various ways. Some classes or activities have school or district-mandated fees and the following groups raise and distribute funds at Ingraham:

  • Friends of Ingraham (FOI): FOI raises money for all students at Ingraham.  Its primary fundraising mechanism is the Annual Fund drive, which helped to raise more than $38,000 in 2013-14. Funds are distributed year ‘round through grants for educational materials and supplies for general education, International Baccalaureate and special ed programs, funds for counselors to assist students in crisis, support for various clubs and activities, sports, arts and performance-related needs, among others. (See website for more information on prior year grants.) This year we hope to raise $50,000 with participation from as many Ingraham families as possible.

  • Ingraham Performing Arts Boosters: As the name suggests, this group raises money to support the bands, orchestras, theatre, choirs, etc. IPAB fund raises through an annual auction, through coffee and seat cushion sales, concessions, ad sales, and in many other creative ways.

  • Ingraham Foundation: The Ingraham Foundation partners with FOI to host the annual spring auction and distributes its portion of the proceeds through a grant cycle held in May/June. The foundation is open to consider funding any need, provided it is a school-day-related (as opposed to extra-curricular) request.

  • Individual Clubs: Many clubs and activities travel to various events and activities. These clubs fundraise in various ways and solicit donations families involved that are able to pay. Examples include: Debate, Rocket, Robotics, and FCCLA. NO STUDENT IS EVER DENIED PARTICIPATION IN ANY CLUB OR ACTIVITY BASED ON ABILITY TO PAY!!!! Your student should follow his/her passion. We will figure out a way to make it all work.

  • Individual Classes: Through the ASB, each class raises money to fund its senior year activities, the Prom, Senior Breakfast and Spree. Typically, seniors do a holiday wreath sale, juniors sponsor the “Mr. Heart Throb” contest, sophomores sponsor the Talent Show, etc. Also, the sophomore class benefits from the auction’s 50/50 raffle, and the juniors benefit from the dessert dash.

  • Corrie Lazar Fund: The Corrie Lazar fund raises money to help cover the costs of IB testing for those who need assistance. The Lazar family created the fund to honor their daughter, a 2006 IHS graduate, who was tragically killed in 2009.

These groups are careful stewards of the funds they raise. We encourage you to give what you can, wherever you choose. For those with more time than money to contribute, please contact our Volunteer Coordinators at There is plenty of work to do!
