Dear Senior Parents & Guardians,
We are excited to share plans for the Senior Class as we head towards Graduation on June 20th AND to ask for your financial support to help secure the remaining funds needed for the 3 Senior Events: Prom, Senior Breakfast, and Spree, the Senior Party that follows graduation.
How much do the three Senior events cost?
The total cost for the three events is $43,000, with the breakdown as follows: Prom: $11,000; Breakfast: $10,000; Spree Senior Party: $22,000. Spree costs the most as it involves venue fees, food, entertainment, security and bus transportation.
To date, approximately 170 students have purchased thier Senior Cards. Because the class of 2017 has been fundraising since freshman year to pay for their events, the Senior card is a bargain. Senior cards are currently $110 per student, and that price will increase to $150 as of April 7. The true cost for Senior events is approximately $250 per student.)
How you can help
While the Senior Class has done a fantastic job fundraising since freshman year, they are still about $3,000 short of the funds needed to fully support these events. We are asking you to consider making a gift of $50 or greater to help bridge this gap.

Senior Cards: this is your student’s ticket to the Prom (June 2nd), Senior Breakfast (the morning of graduation), and the overnight Senior party known as Spree, which takes place right after graduation. While the actual cost of these events runs into hundreds of dollars per person, the class of 2017 students and families have been fundraising for years for these celebrations, so the Senior Card is currently only $90. This is the very end of the fundraising push!
Where to buy it? Senior Cards are on sale during lunch by the Activities Center. There have been regular announcements about this at school throughout recent weeks, but if you or your student have any questions, feel free to send me an email or stop by and see me in room #101.
How to buy it? The Senior Card is $90. The student should bring a check (preferred) or cash to the Activities Center. The Senior Card is $90 through Friday March 3rd, but then prices will go up, starting with a jump to $110, so please act quickly!
Why should you buy it? This is the ticket to the three major senior events – without the Senior Card, your student can not attend these events.
What does the money go toward? This last bit of fundraising is especially crucial to Spree, which is an annual tradition for IHS seniors and is planned by a hard-working group of senior parent volunteers. We can’t tell you much right now, since the location and details are a top-secret surprise for our students, but we guarantee they’ll have an amazing time. Here are some details from past Sprees to give you an idea of what the evening could include for the 200 students we estimate will attend :
- Venues like Teatro Zinzanni, Arena Sports, Argosy Cruises, The Sandbox
- Entertainment like hypnotists, fortune-tellers, caricaturists, magicians, live DJs
- Food, snacks, and breakfast
- Special prizes and giveaways
- Security and chaperones
