Class of 2017 Graduation Events – June 20th

9 to 11 am: Senior Breakfast at the M/V Skansonia, 205 NE Northlake Way, Seattle. This is a permanently-docked historical ferryboat on the shore of Lake Union. This event is just for graduating seniors and school staff who wish to attend. Transportation is not provided, and parking is limited, so plan ahead and consider carpooling! There is no additional cost to students; the Senior Card covers admission to this event.

11:30 am: Graduation ceremony rehearsal at Ingraham High School.

5:30 pm: Seniors arrive in their caps and gowns at the IHS gymnasium to line up for the ceremony.

6:30-7:30 pm: Graduation ceremony. A note on seating: given the stadium seating capacity (1,000), each of the 300+ graduating seniors was given six tickets for family members; generally a few hundred people have to stand on the ground next to the stadium because the stands are full. We won’t turn anyone away from the ceremony, but we do have to ask that students try and limit the number of invitees. We recommend arriving around 5:45 in order to ensure seating.

9:00 pm to approximately 4 am the following morning: SPREE! This is an all-night, multiple-location, top-secret graduation party for seniors, planned and run by IHS parents and staff. There is no additional cost to students; the Senior Card covers admission to this event. *If you did not already submit your SPREE authorization form, you cannot participate in this event.*

DO bring: Comfortable, casual clothing, including close-toed shoes and socks; a light outer layer (sweatshirt or jacket); lip balm, if you want.

DON’T bring: Drugs, alcohol, money, cell phones, water bottles, purses, bags, car keys, mints, or any other personal items. Everything you need is provided! Chaperones will have Ziploc bags and a secure storage system for any personal items. Chaperones will hold on to any necessary medications.

Seniors! If you have purchased a Senior Card but have not yet submitted a SPREE authorization form, you are in danger of not being able to participate in SPREE! The “drop-dead date” is MONDAY JUNE 12th. Today at school, the following note is being delivered to students who haven’t confirmed SPREE participation:

June 8, 2017

URGENT: SPREE Authorization Form/Confirmation of Non-Attendance

Dear 2017 Senior ____________________________________:

You have purchased a senior card, but have not turned in the authorization form that is REQUIRED for you to attend Spree after the graduation ceremony the night of June 20.

This note is to inform you that because you have not submitted this form, your name will be removed from the graduation night event/SPREE attendance list.

The authorization form is required to attend SPREE, and it serves as your RSVP for the event. The event expenses are based on the number of attendees, and we cannot pay for students’ participation without having the authorization form in hand.

This is your LAST CHANCE - Please do one of the following by MONDAY, JUNE 12:

  1. Return this note to the office:

______ I will not be attending the all-night graduation event, SPREE

-OR-

  1. Complete the authorization form and submit it to the office or to Ms. Lewis in room #101. Forms are on the 2017 tab at Ingrahamhigh.org, and printed copies are available in the office.

Thank you for acting now!

Ms. Lewis and SPREE Committee

Check out the 2017 tab on Ingraham’s website, and some mysteries may be solved. Go to Ingraham website, select “About” menu, scroll to 2017. Or, just click on this link:   IHS 2017 Class Page_Parent Communications

SPREE Authorization forms due NOW; Deadline 5/19: SPREE Authorization forms are attached to this email, available on the class page linked above, and print forms also available in the school office. Turn into the school office ASAP, but not later than 5/19. The SPREE permission form is mandatory, and students will not be allowed to participate without one, even if payment was received.

SPREE Volunteers Still Needed for Easy Jobs: Big jobs are covered! Senior parent volunteers needed ‘night-of’ 6/20, 10pm-midnight, for food delivery and set-up. Also looking for a few Food Prep volunteers (needs for this are being defined). Finally, if you know any non-senior parents to chaperone SPREE with a pack of 12 amazing adults, we are still recruiting more folks for that important job. See the tab for details…

Donation Update:  Thank you for your generosity! The Class of 2017 senior events appeal raised $3,500!  If you still would like to contribute – donations going forward will help fund scholarships and senior card discounts for students who need financial assistance. Giving form is attached here and available at the class page.

Again, please turn in the SPREE authorization forms ASAP, and visit IHS 2017 Class Page_Parent Communications for events information, deadlines, and more. Please reach out to Roxy Lewis (rmlewis@seattleschools.org) for questions related to the senior class, or Karen Wilson for questions related to SPREE (karen.wilson@mindspring.com).

We are almost there! Hang on to your hat and don't freak out!

Sincerely,

Roxy Lewis
